The QD145 Optical Encoder, a product of Quantum Devices, Inc., is designed to deliver superior feedback solutions for applications that normally use modular encoders. Its ultra-slim height of just 0.87" and the reliability inherent in a bearing encoder design make the QD145 model an ideal choice for applications that might otherwise be constrained by traditional modular encoder solutions.
The encoder's outputs consist of a quadrature with a reference pulse and three-phase commutation, which can be configured to work with either the widely accepted 5 volt RS422A Line Driver or the flexible 5 to 26 volt OL7272 line driver. The included flexible member accommodates much larger tail shaft run out than that usually permitted by modular encoder designs and also offers 30 degrees of rotation for commutation timing. The housing, constructed from conductive carbon fiber composite, provides the EMI shielding found in an all-metal housing, but with the high performance of a lightweight and sturdy assembly.
