Quantum Devices, Inc.'s QD145 Optical Encoder provides a high-quality feedback solution for applications traditionally using modular encoders. With an ultra-compact height of just 0.87" and the stability of a bearing encoder design, the QD145 model is capable of delivering substantial performance enhancements in situations that are limited by traditional modular encoder solutions.
Output options include a quadrature with reference pulse and three-phase commutation, which can be set up with either the industry-standard 5 volt RS422A Line Driver or the flexible 5 to 26 volt OL7272 line driver. A flexible component provides the capability for a much larger tail shaft run out than that tolerated by modular encoder designs, and also affords 30 degrees of rotation for commutation timing. The housing, made of conductive carbon fiber composite, provides the EMI shielding expected from an all-metal housing, while maintaining the high performance and lightness of a composite assembly.
