The QR145 Optical Incremental Encoder, a model from Quantum Devices, Inc., provides an improved feedback solution in applications usually employing modular encoders. Its overall height is just 0.87", and it offers the stability of a bearing encoder design. This makes the QR145 model a significant upgrade for applications that have been limited by traditional modular encoder solutions. Its outputs include a quadrature with a reference pulse and three-phase commutation, which can be tailored to work with either the industrial standard 5-volt RS422A Line Driver or the 5 to 26-volt OL7272 line driver. Furthermore, it has a flexible structure that can handle much greater tail shaft run out than modular encoder designs.
