IoT Gateways

Servo2Go stocks the Exor eXware series of industrial IoT gateways. These are headless edge controllers, meaning no display and no operator panel. They sit between field devices and your cloud or enterprise system, translate protocols, run local logic, and move data out securely. Five models are available for purchase with published pricing: eXware 703, eXware 707, eXware 707Q, eXware703M, and eXware707M.

An IoT gateway is a network-edge device that connects field-level equipment (PLCs, sensors, drives, legacy controllers) to cloud or enterprise systems. It performs three core functions: protocol translation between fieldbus/Ethernet standards, local edge computing so decisions happen without a cloud round-trip, and secure, encrypted transmission of the resulting data upstream.

How Is an IoT Gateway Different From a Panel HMI?

A panel HMI has a screen, mounts to a machine face, and gives an operator a live interface. An IoT gateway has neither. It mounts on a DIN rail or in a cabinet and runs unattended. Its job is data movement and edge logic, not operator interaction. If the application needs both operator visualization and gateway function in one unit, see Panel HMIs or the eXware703M/707M models below, which combine JMobile HMI capability with gateway hardware.

What Protocols Do eXware Gateways Support?

  • Fieldbus and Ethernet: EtherCAT, PROFINET, EtherNet/IP, POWERLINK, Modbus
  • Enterprise integration: OPC UA client/server (707Q adds pub/sub over TSN)
  • IIoT messaging: MQTT (707M)
  • Soft PLC: CODESYS V3, IEC 61131
  • Remote connectivity: Corvina Cloud secure remote access

All models draw from the same JMobile protocol library, so a project built on one eXware model can generally move to another in the series without a protocol rewrite.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the difference between eXware 703 and eXware 707?

The 703 uses a single-core ARM Cortex-A8 CPU with 2 Ethernet ports. The 707 steps up to a dual-core ARM Cortex-A9 with 1GB RAM, 4GB Flash, and a third Ethernet port. Choose the 707 for heavier data throughput or when running soft PLC and web HMI functions concurrently.

Can an eXware gateway replace a PLC?

Each eXware model runs CODESYS V3 (IEC 61131), so it can execute soft PLC logic locally in addition to its gateway function. Whether it fully replaces a dedicated PLC depends on I/O count and cycle-time requirements of the application.

Does eXware support MQTT?

The eXware707M supports MQTT. The base 703, 707, and 707Q models communicate primarily via the JMobile protocol library and OPC UA; confirm MQTT requirements against the specific datasheet before specifying.

Is eXware available for purchase without a custom quote?

Yes. All five models listed above are stocked, purchasable items with published pricing, unlike most of Servo2Go's configurable catalog, which is quote-based.

What is Corvina Cloud?

Corvina is Exor's remote connectivity and device management platform, used for secure remote access to eXware and other Exor devices without exposing an open network port.
