Bellows couplings are a form of flexible coupling with twin coupling ends (hubs) capping a precision-engineered corrugated tube that serves as the coupling body. These couplings are known for their torsional rigidity that allows them to accurately transmit velocity, angular position, and torque.
Because they have slight flexibility at the corrugated bellows, they can handle limited amounts of axial, angular, and parallel misalignment.
GAM Bellows Couplings
GAM bellows couplings feature high torsional rigidity, low inertia, zero backlash, and misalignment compensation. They can be used at temperatures of up to 570°F without any limitations and maintenance-free. Some additional features include:
Patented Press-Fit method of joining the bellow to the hubs can withstand harsh environments where glued connections cannot
High speeds: rotational speeds up to 25,000 RPM without additional balancing
Torque values from .44 Nm to 2,500 Nm
Applications
Because bellows couplings have the highest torsional stiffness of all servo motor couplings, they are used in applications that require high precision positioning.
They can also be used in high temperature applications, unlike elastomer couplings which have a polymer insert.
