Shaft Mounted Power On Brake & Clutch System

Shaft-mounted power-on brakes are designed to be mounted directly on the motor or through the shaft to deliver effective braking. These brakes engage when electrical power is supplied, making them ideal for stopping rotating loads in various applications.

Built to be backlash-free, power-on brakes are known for their durability and long operational life. They are commonly utilized in industries like robotics, industrial motors, packaging, food processing, aerospace, and automotive.

Servo2Go offers Inertia Dynamics Type SLB and Type SOB shaft-mounted power-on brakes. The Inertia Dynamics Type SLB and SOB series are compact shaft-mounted clutch/power-on brake systems that link two parallel or in-line shafts.

These units merge the functionalities of the SL or SO models with an FB brake for simplified installation. In these units, the clutch armature hub can support a pulley, gear, or sprocket to transfer torque to a second shaft.

The integrated brake is responsible for stopping or holding the load in place. The entire clutch/brake assembly is mounted on the shaft and secured with a loose-fitting pin or bracket attached to the anti-rotation tab.

Type SLB

The Inertia Dynamics Type SLB shaft-mounted power-on brake/clutch combination is engineered to be installed on a driven shaft, positioning the brake nearest to the load. Designed for parallel shaft applications, SLB units typically receive input via a chain or belt drive. When the clutch is activated, the system transmits power to drive the load. When the brake is engaged, it stops and holds the load in place, while the clutch input continues to rotate.

Type SOB

The Inertia Dynamics Type SOB shaft-mounted power-on brake/clutch combination is designed for use with two in-line shafts, with the brake positioned on the driven shaft. When the clutch is engaged, it connects the two shafts to transmit torque. When the brake is activated, the driven shaft and load are brought to a stop and held in place, while the input side of the clutch rotates freely on the driving shaft.
