The 3540 MO step motor driver contains a microstep phase sequencer, two switching ampliers, and optoisolation circuits. This driver also includes an automatic feature to lower motor current anytime the motor is left at rest for more than one second. The ampliers regulate motor current by chopping at a constant, inaudible frequency. Phase current is selected from 32 levels by a DIP switch. The 3540 MO is a PC board mounted on an aluminum angle heat transfer chassis. Mating head sink is available for applications where the drive cannot be mounted to a heat sinking surface.
Features of Microstep Drivers
accepts 12-42 VDC power supply (including ripple)
switch selectable motor current: 0.4 to 3.5 amps
12,800 steps/rev digital oscillator/speed controller is extremely
accurate and repeatable, deriving all timing from a quartz crystal
2 speeds, selectable from external signal
joystick mode allows bidirectional control from 0-5V analog joystick, a switch can be used to change from high to low speed ranges for fast moves and precise positiong.
on-board trimpots for all settings (one speed can be set by external pot of 0-5 volt analog signal trimmed by on-board pot)
3 state MOSFET PWM amplifiers
4 optically isolated 5-24 V digital inputs can be configured for sinking of sourcing logic
automatic idle current reduction (defeatable)
enable input (turns off current to motor windings)
optically isolated Tach Out signal allows easy measurement of monitoring of speed and distance
