Dobot Magician – Educational Version

Sample image only. Product may differ
The Dobot Magician Educational Version is a compact 4-axis articulated robot arm designed for programmable bench-top motion. With a 500 g payload and ±0.2 mm repeatability, it provides controlled multi-axis movement for prototyping, light-duty automation tasks, and robotics experimentation.
Its desktop footprint allows engineers and educators to deploy articulated motion without the infrastructure requirements of full-scale industrial robots. The system supports interchangeable end-effectors and structured trajectory programming for repeatable task execution.

What the Dobot Magician Is Used to Teach
- Robot kinematics and coordinate systems
- Motion control and trajectory planning
- Basic automation workflows
- Programming logic and sequencing
- Human–machine interaction concepts
- Introduction to end-of-arm tooling and task variation
Intro to Robotics curriculum included with purchase.

Where This Robot Fits
The Magician platform is suited for:
- Bench-top pick-and-place trials
- Motion path testing and validation
- End-effector evaluation
- Automation concept prototyping
- Robotics training labs transitioning toward industrial systems
It allows users to test automation workflows in a controlled, low-payload environment before scaling to larger robotic platforms.
Motion Capability
The 4-axis configuration supports base rotation, rear arm articulation, forearm articulation, and end rotation. This enables:
- Coordinated pick-and-place sequences
- Rotational alignment tasks
- Tool-path execution
- Basic automation cell simulation
The system provides sufficient articulation for multi-step workflows while maintaining a simplified mechanical structure.
When to Choose This Model
Select the Dobot Magician Educational Version when:
- Payload requirements are under 500 g
- Footprint must remain desktop-sized
- Full 6-axis articulation is not required
- The objective is prototyping or structured robotics training
- A lower-complexity articulated platform is preferred
For higher repeatability and production-oriented use, consider the Dobot MG400. For full 6-axis articulation and expanded motion capability, consider the Dobot Magician E6.
