The Rabbit Cloning Board is ideal for copying compiled software programs from one Rabbit-based board to another. This enables fast compiling and loading of master programs to other boards without the need for a PC. The cloning board is easy to use; simply attach one of its cables to a master board with a compiled program and the other cable to a target board. A press of the reset master pushbutton on the cloning board will begin the process of program transfer to the target board.
Functionally, it is quite simple to use. Cloning is enabled by setting two options at the top of the master board's BIOS, including the cloning baud rate. The master board sends its entire BIOS to the board being cloned, where the boot program receives it and stores it in RAM. A CRC check of the BIOS is performed on both the master and clone and results are compared. The clone is then reset, the BIOS begins running, and the master begins sending data at high speed. Once the entire Flash contents are transferred (except the system ID block), an LED flashes on the cloning board.
